Lord, my Lord (1. Akt)
This world is a real success
La, la, la!
Apprach, Manolios, approach
Don't you notice me, my Lord?
Listen to that!
Katerina, what are you after here among all these men?
Who are you? What are you doing here?
He looks like the Apostle James...
My sons, at his very moment
I have nothing else, my sisters
Father, tonight you can rest on the Sarakina mount
May the race take root
Then... the deep peace (2. Akt)
Here, my son
Yannakos! - Oh, Manolios!
Three times I have seen villages planted
Here wei'll build the gate!
Here is a good man from Lycovrissi
Father! Father! The old man is dead!
Eat! Eat! (3. Akt)
Manolios! What's the matter
'Who is there?
I'm son of the light
What is he talking about?
Christ is sill alive
I would like to tell you an adventure
Oh! As the apple tree among the trees (4. Akt)
Today Lenio and Nikolio are celebrating their wedding
God called up day
Men, listen to me!
It is Christmas eve
Don't awake him, de's dreaming
Manolios is dead, let's pray for him
Gloria, Gloria, Alleluja!
The name of the young man was written on the snow
Alleuja - Kyrie eleison
The style of the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů was enriched by numerous influences which are reflected in The Greek Passion: magnificent choirs contrast vividly with intimate chamber music, folkloristic elements are placed next to complex, classically worked-out orchestral movements. A highly emotional mixture of oratorio and dramatic opera abducts the listener/spectator into a world in which catastrophes abound. Lorenzo Fioroni, who has directed operas in Nuremberg, Augsburg and Heidelberg, has produced this dramatic contest against fear in Graz.
