With his debut recording, the young pianist Paul Coriolan Cartianu ventures into three of Ludwig van Beethoven's "great" works: In addition to the "Waldstein" Sonata and the infamous Opus 111, it is the Variations in C minor, WoO 80, which span the harmonic arc from C minor via C major back to C minor. On this album we experience an up-andcoming artist whose love for Beethoven can be felt in every note and who is yet to make a name for himself.
