Unlike the traverse flute or oboe, bassoon is considered exotic among the baroque solo instruments. With his 39 obtained bassoon concertos Antonio Vivaldi has done both numerically and qualitatively most significant contribution to the baroque bassoon literature. Even today the delightful pieces are considered to be technically challenging. The recording on ARS PRODUKTION with the baroque bassoon player Mihu Fukui and the Ensemble F, which she founded, brings the individual qualities of the concerts, but especially the versatility of the baroque bassoon as a solo instrument to its best advantage.
