Luigi Nono's 'Intolleranza 1960' is his first work for the opera stage and marks a new milestone in the music history of the 20th century.
The Bremen production of Nono’s ‘Intolleranza 1960’, which can be heard on this CD, is, without doubt, one of the most unusual and complex tasks that Gabriel Feltz have ever experienced in an Opera house, he said. The choice of languages –Italian or German – seems to play a subordinate role. And this especially as the libretto combines various political documentary and lyrical texts from authors such as Brecht and Sartre.
Quite rightly, the Choir of the Theatre of Bremen and the Bremer Philharmoniker, conducted by Gabriel Feltz, received the most praise, not just regionally.
