We know that the concept of the Nordic has lost all its innocence, but against the background of this train of thought, it remains a characteristic. Such character traits do not require to be precisely defined or to retain consistency of meaning. They are points of orientation that establish themselves in our experience directly and obviously. They need no explanation from one or other academic discipline, they call for maximum, indeed unconditional, attention. In music, that applies as much to the exponent as to the listener.
