All the pieces on this CD are either compositions by Jonas Khalil himself or his arrangements of the works of other composers. His own compositions range from a Hommage to the great guitar-composer Leo Brouwer over an adaption of a guitar intro from the repertoire of his band to a Fantasia, with „chorale-like periods that had something of a Baroque sound to them“.
Khalil arranged two pieces from the „Pieces de Clavecin“ by Jacques Duphly (1715-1789), the Serenade for Violoncello solo by Hans-Werner Henze (1926-2012) and a Hymn out of „Iphigénie en Tauride“ by Christoph Willibald Gluck (1714-1787).
Jonas Khalil, who lives in Stuttgart, played in his first band at the age of eleven. After school he studied music in Darmstadt, Stuttgart and Salzburg. As a music teacher he is working with students of all ages for many years now. Besides his solo recitals he is playing in several chamber music ensembles and as a lead guitar player in the band Sacred Steel.
Recorded at Beletage Stuttgart, 27.-30. August 2019. Guitar: Jakob Lebisch, 2018
