…in the hands of the Consortium Musicum the works blossoms –– evidence of the fine musicianship of the group. They have obviously thought carefully about formal shape, phrasing, and balance. Bokun’s sound is warm, flexible, and above all, expressive. He has wonderful tonal control at all dynamic levels, and his intonation is impeccable. He executes the short but difficult tongued passages in the second movement with great precision, impressively matching the violist’s spiccato. The viola playing by Bartosz Bokun is fabulous. In sum, this is a terrific CD… The important thing is that Jan Jakub Bokun is not just a fine clarinetist. He is a musician of the highest quality, and the same can be said for the other performers on this disc. Bokun’s versatility is superbly demonstrated on this recording. It is certainly a CD that I will listen to over and over again.
