In 2012, it’s 200 years ago that the Czech composer and contemporary of Mozart died. As a piano virtuoso he was favored by courts all over Europe, including Catherina the great from Russia and Marie Antoinette. He left Paris for London in 1789, In the spring of 1791, Dussek appeared in a series of concerts, a number of which featured Sophia, the young daughter of music publisher Domenico Corri. In a concert on June 15 that year, the pair played a piano duet together; they were married in September 1792. Sophia Corri was a singer, pianist, and harpist who became known in her own right. The music on this CD includes compositions by both Jan and Sophia.

Jan Ladislav Dussek (1760-1812) był czeskim kompozytorem i pianistą. Współczesny Mozartowi i epoce klasycznej wybiegał już swoimi często odważnymi pomysłami kompozytorskimi w epokę romantyczną. Koncertował jako wirtuoz fortepianu w Europie, uwielbiali go ówcześni władcy. Tworzył również na harfę solo. Jego żona Zofia Corri była harfistką, ale także kompozytorką, śpiewaczką i pianistką. Para koncertowała razem. I był to duet jak na owe czasy niezwykle modny. Rzadko możemy zapoznać się z twórczością samego Dusseka, a tym bardziej jego żony. Na płycie Masumi Nagasawa zarejestrowała dzieła solowe na harfę małżeństwa Dussek. To rzeczywiście muzyka niezwykle nastrojowa, w której pobrzmiewa owo pogranicze klasyczno-romantyczne. Płyta wydana w 200. rocznicę śmierci kompozytora warta poznania. Prawdziwa gratka nie tylko dla wielbicieli harfy.
