Grieg’s songs based on texts by Garborg, Ibsen, and Vinje have never before been brought together on one recording. Now critically acclaimed and Grammy-nominated mezzo-soprano Marianne Beate Kielland and pianist Nils Mortensen have recorded precisely these songs, and with their authentic interpretations they have made an important contribution to the rich variety of Grieg releases. Marianne Beate Kielland is one of Norway’s most eminent singers. She performs regularly with leading orchestras and conductors in Europe and Japan, and with her nearly 40 recordings she has firmly established herself in the international recording industry. Nils Anders Mortensen has distinguished himself as one of Norway’s leading pianists with many recordings and concerts over the past years. He is active as freelance artist, while serving as state musician in Finnmark County. Marianne Beate and Nils Anders have played together since 2007, and in 2012 they received a Grammy nomination in the category ‘Best Classical Solo Vocal Album’ for their recording Veslemoy Synsk.
