Moving devotional music for a nightly Holy Week service at the Viennese imperial court in the mid-17th century is the focus of this MUSIKMUSEUM recording. The tenor Riccardo Pisani, an ideal interpreter of the virtuoso Italian-influenced vocal art of the early Baroque, performs treasures and rarities by Sances, Ziani and Carissimi, among others, together with the young, already internationally successful ensemble La florida Capella under the direction of Marian Polin and Carissimi at the musical crossroads between Vienna and Rome.
