The name is programmatic: at its found-ing in 2008, bassoonist Johannes Schwarz and saxophonist Sascha Arm-bruster christened their duo “sound-spaces”. Apart from the instrumental sounds, electronics are an essential fac-tor in soundspaces, forcing both instru-mentalists to expand their playing tech-niques to extremes and to unfold their “sound” anew in each piece, in produc-tive interplay between natural and syn-thetic sound generation.
