The Musical Offering fits seamlessly into Bach's monothematic instrumental works of the 1740s, but is unique in its heterogeneous composition, consisting of two ricercars, ten different canons and a trio sonata. The ensemble NeoBarock, founded in 2003, now combines this work with the Kánonické invence (Canonical Inventions) by Viktor Kalabis and the Royal Theme (1976) by Isang Yun. This results in an exciting musical dialog with continuous reflections of timeless ideas of the respective epoch.
