Cellist Martin Rummel presents a carefully curated selection of miniature pieces for cello and piano. Amusing, virtuoso, reflecting and energetic pieces take turns, combining all-time favorites such as Fauré’s Apres un reve with lesser known gems like Ein Traum (“A Dream”) by the Viennese composer Rudolf Glickh. Rummel, whose recordings continually receive rave reviews worldwide, together with his duo partners Stefan Stroissnig and Gerda Guttenberg once again proves that the cello repertoire still has lots to discover. His personal and highly readable liner notes make this a particularly endearing release for cello-lovers and those who want to discover its possibilities.

Recording: Schloss Weinberg, Kefermarkt/Austria, 4 Dec 2012 (1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 13–15), 19 Dec 2019 (3, 6, 7, 10–12, 16–18)
