While hardly any book about music hi-story mentions Soler more extensively than in a footnote, particularly Spanish musicians love his sonatas, which are of-ten performed additionally to the big works, and often as encores, as if to fi-nally unleash all joy of music making. So-ler’s music seems to jump and turn, with fingers running and hands crossing. Such joy in figuration can of course also be found in the sonatas by his famous con-temporary Joseph Haydn. The selection of this album focuses on the more sober colors of the minor keys, which Soler chooses surprisingly often. Stefan Hus-song, one of the leading accordionists of our time, presents them in his versions for his instruments – a fascinating kaleido-scope of emotions.
