Zawartość
Since its foundation in 1984, SCHOLA ANTIQUA is dedicated to the study, research and performance of the early music and especially of the Gregorian chant.   The repertoire that SCHOLA ANTIQUA interprets embraces the whole western liturgical monody (Beneventan, Ambrosian, Mozarabic...) in its different forms, as well as the primitive polyphony of Martial S. of Limoges, Notre-Dame, Ars Antiqua and Ars Nova. All its members, at their early ages, were formed in the Escolanía of the Abbey of Santa Cruz del Valle de los Caídos, startin goint of one of the styles of interpretation of the monody in Spain. They have also incorporated in their performances the latest results of research in semiology and palaeography to get a more purified interpretation of the primitive Christian melodies. SCHOLA ANTIQUA’s recordings focus on the Gregorian and Hispanic repertoires as well as the reconstruction of Renaissance and Spanish Baroque liturgy with groups as prestigious as La Grande Chapelle, La Colombina, Ensemble Plus Ultra and His Majesties Sagbutts and Cornetts.

Schola Antiqua wants to dedicate this recording to the loving memory of Michel Huglo   (+13-V-2012), a truly musicus and a constant inspiration for the singers.

This CD is not about liturgical works, but songs for practical music learning in monasteries. Intervals, modes and their changes, psalm tones, the beginnings of solfege in the West with Guido d’Arezzo's syllables and the Guidonian hand. Medieval teaching devices recorded for the first time with the help of Eduardo Paniagua's psaltery.
