The popularity of the composer Josquin des Prez and the invention of music printing by Petrucci contributed to valuable sheet music by this Renaissance composer also being found in Leipzig archives. The Leipzig vocal quintet amarcord has used them to create a program that revolves around the veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with the Missa de Beata Virgine at its heart. This Josquin program is rounded off with medieval music from Leipzig, which has been preserved in the Thomas-Graduale, a manuscript from the 13th and 14th centuries that contains a considerable number of liturgical chants used in Leipzig at the time throughout the church year.
