This is a great conversation between two artists belonging to different generations, but you cannot hear it at all. There is a dialogue, possible thanks to the knowledge of the same language, an encounter of two well-versed specialists. It is not the virtuoso solos but the quality that is a key element; nowadays, few musicians can lead ‘musical dialogues’ resembling a conversation between two wise and eloquent people.

Włodzimierz Nahorny is an extremely important figure to Polish jazz and Polish entertainment music in general. [...] Nahorny has also composed a number of pieces, appreciated and widely known. Many of his famous compositions were originally songs, which he later recorded in instrumental versions. Freedom and diversity are two important features of Nahorny’s work. Paweł Pańta, in turn, is one of the most famous Polish bassists today. For many years, he has been playing with the best performers. He is almost two generations apart from Włodzimierz Nahorny, yet they understand music in the same way.

Włodzimierz Nahorny has so many of his own compositions that he can return to them and build new programmes out of them; the presented recordings are a kind of ‘time’s standard.’ There were only two sessions, and everything was done as it used to be – without rehearsals, relying on the high qualifications of the performers only. In each of those works you can find something really interesting, but the most important thing is probably the whole, the entire collection presented. I would like to listen to a continuation featuring other themes, because of the lightness and ease with which the artists perform this music, which in turn directly translates into the pleasure of listening.
