With its new album, amarcord opens the Schubertian treasure chest! From over 100 works for vocal ensemble, the quintet selected songs for a cappella voices, with and without piano accompaniment. The two-time ECHO Klassic prizewinner and pianist Eric Schneider bring to life the fanciful world of the nineteenth century – with rapturous natural beauty, tender avowals of love, and fairytale-like ghostly atmosphere. To be heard on the new SCHUBERT CD (release date: 11 November 2016, edition apollon/RAUMKLANG) are gems such as “Ständchen,” “Gondelfahrer,” the setting of Goethe’s text “Gesang der Geister über den Wassern,” “Unendliche Freude durchwallet das Herz” (after a text by Schiller), and others. The internationally highly regarded vocal ensemble amarcord is known for constantly expanding its extensive, wide-ranging repertoire, and in doing so also performing forgotten, today unknown treasures of the literature for men’s choir. With over 1,500 concerts in fifty countries throughout the world and numerous CD and radio productions, amarcord looks back on an unparalleled career, which is attested to by an International Classical Music Award and six Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards, the “a cappella Oscar.”
