Sergei Rachmaninoff composed a setting of the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom in 1910, which is the Eastern Orthodox counterpart to the Catholic Ordo missae. In this work for a cappella choir he succeeded in creating a masterpiece in his own unique style. The formidable Rundfunkchor Berlin under the direction of Nicolas Fink has created an exemplary recording of this demanding work.
