Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) z pewnością swymi śmiałymi dokonaniami wstrząsnął muzyką na początku XVII wieku rozpoczynając tym samym epokę baroku w muzyce. Jego Nieszpory niezaprzeczalnie są jednym z najważniejszych cyklów muzyki sakralnej, jakie do tej pory skomponowano. W tym dziele odnajdujemy wszystkie możliwe techniki i style, jakie wówczas w muzyce, w 1610 roku, były obecne. Od wielkich chórów po subtelny śpiew solowy lub recytatyw, z koncertującymi bądź ascetycznymi fragmentami. Tym razem możemy podziwiać je w wykonaniu jakże zasłużonych muzyków - The Sixteen pod dyrekcją oczywiście Harry’ego Chritophersa. Trudno zaskoczyć tych, którzy śledzą z uwagą kolejne interpretacje Nieszporów Monteverdiego. Tym razem nie intryguje, nie zaskakuje, ale błyszczy jak zawsze perfekcją wykonania.
