This suggests that the two of them are committed to giving these two symphonic concertos by Johannes Brahms the right character. This congenial collaboration is immediately apparent in the first movement of the First Concerto, when Trinks and the orchestra trill in response to the pianist’s trills, and the playing expresses not only the stunning clarity of the performance, but also the search with which Brahms approached this work.
